Memorial Tree in Hunter Park

Council has reviewed the handful of alternative locations we suggested and has rejected them all for various reasons. They have offered to remove the tree from Hunter Park. This suggestion will be put to the community at the 11 May meeting.

November 2025

In July, ABCA asked Council to relocate the Memorial Tree from Hunter Park to a more appropriate location. We are pleased to say they responded favourably to our request, and are currently considering other locations in Avoca, ones more appropriate for quiet contemplation of lost loved ones. We received an update in November that they are still in the process of identifying an alternative site.

ABCA is grateful to Council for listening to the community’s concerns about this tree, and we look forward to working with them to select a more suitable location.
