South End Car Park Improvements
Update: June 22 2026
ABCA convened a Community Meeting on June 11 to discuss the draft plans. It provided opportunity for dialogue among participants and an opportunity to establish where a good degree of commonality was present and where there was a diversity of views. We also gathered feedback via informal conversations with individuals.
The resulting submission to Council by ABCA on behalf of the community is intended to capture the main elements of these discussions. It does not attempt to canvass every significant aspect of the draft plans. The submission can be read below:
Update: October 15, 2025
Here's an update from Councillor Jared Wright on progress with the upgrading of the South End / Burns Street Car Park:
"Council is continuing with the design of trunk drainage and improvements including pedestrian paths, tables and benches, landscaping and of course the improvements to car parking.
During the internal consultation and subsequent discussions with Transport for NSW, an opportunity was identified to incorporate further enhancements for accessible parking and consideration of an additional 40km/h High Pedestrian Activity Area to improvement pedestrian safety.
This led to a scope variation and a short delay to better align the project to further benefit our community. It is anticipated that community consultation will occur early in 2026, to avoid the busy seasonal period.”
